Terms and Conditions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should be aware of the participants’ health condition and consider whether it is suitable for them to enroll in the courses. In case of doubt, please consult a doctor prior to the enrolment. Course activities are considered moderately strenuous.

AGE REQUIREMENTS
Some courses have age requirements. The age is calculated against the start date of the course.
Course participants under 18 must be enrolled by their parents/guardians.

LANGUAGE
All courses are conducted in English unless otherwise specified.

WEATHER PROCEDURES – ROWING AND PADDLING COURSES

Morning sessions will be cancelled if Red/Black Rainstorm Warning signal, Typhoon signal #3 or higher signals are in effect at 0800hrs or after.  For FULL DAY courses, if the aforementioned signals are cancelled before 1130hrs, the afternoon sessions will start at 1300hrs.

Afternoon sessions will be cancelled if Red/Black Rainstorm Warning signal, Typhoon signal #3 or higher signals are in effect at 1130hrs or after.

If Red/Black Rainstorm Warning signal, Typhoon signal #3 or higher signals are raised after a session has begun, all on-water activities will be suspended, and the class will continue ashore until the scheduled finish time.

Amber Rainstorm Warning signal, Typhoon signal #1, Thunderstorm Warning, Strong Monsoon: Sessions will go ahead. The Rowing/Paddling coaching staff will monitor the weather conditions in the local area and suspend on-water activities if necessary. Sessions will continue ashore until the scheduled course end time.

CANCELLATION – BY APPLICANTS

10% course fee is non-refundable once a booking is made.

Cancellation must be made in writing or via email at least TWO WEEKS (14 days) prior to the course start date.  100% course fee will be forfeited after this deadline. Students who do not turn up will be charged the full course fee. In the event of a participant not being able to attend a course due to a medical reason, the course fees may be refunded on a pro-rata basis upon presentation of a medical certificate, subject to final confirmation.


CANCELLATION – BY RHKYC

In the event of cancellation due to insufficient enrolments, applicants will be notified 5 days before the course start date.

INDEMNITY AND EQUIPMENT:

By agreeing to these terms and conditions, as the participant or the legal parents/guardian of the participants you are agreeing to the below statements:

I declare that I/ the Participant(s) can swim at least 50 meters and is/are competent under water & treading water in light clothing and agrees to perform swim test if asked otherwise personal floating device will be provided to wear in full duration for the activity under instructions.  I declare that I/ the Participant(s) do not suffer from any illness that renders us unfit for these activities. I agree that if I/ the Participant(s) suffer any damage, death or personal injury as a result of participating in the RHKYC Rowing/Paddling Programme I/ the Participant(s) shall not hold the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club or the Course Instructors liable for such damage, death or personal injury and I/ the Participant(s) make this agreement in full knowledge of the risks inherent in these activities. I/ the Participant(s) confirm that should there be a behavioral incident during the course I/ the Participant(s) will support the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s decisions.

I/ the Participant(s) agree to pay the costs or replacement for any damages to RHKYC equipment caused by us during these activities.

MEDICAL DECLARATION:

It is the participant/parent/guardian’s responsibility to make known any potential medical conditions that may affect their own safety and performance during the training activities and will inform RHKYC of any subsequent conditions that the activity leader should be aware of.

Please provide details for any medical condition/past injuries and/or medication to rps.booking@rhkyc.org.hk prior the activities or training courses start.

PROMOTIONAL STATEMENTS
"I understand that I/ the Participant(s) in RHKYC Rowing/Paddling training activities grant to RHKYC, at no cost, the absolute right and permission in perpetuity to use their image and likeness in any media, including video footage, for the sole purposes of advertising, promoting, reporting and disseminating information regarding RHKYC activities."
