Outrigger Canoe Steering Course
Participants will have the opportunity to learn and experiment using different steering strokes and well as steering timing, practice buoy turns and canoe reversals.
This course is aimed at paddlers who have not had an opportunity to learn to steer, as well as those who may have a basic understanding of steering but have not been able to experiment and test out their knowledge because they have always steered in environments where they had to minimize mistakes. The focus will be on learning by doing and learning from seeing what works and what doesn’t in an environment where “getting it wrong” is seen as a good sign that a steersperson is trying to stretch their skill level.
