Terms and Conditions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should be aware of the participants’ health condition and consider whether it is suitable for them to enrol in the courses. In case of doubt, please consult a doctor prior to the enrolment. Course activities are considered moderately strenuous.
Participants must be confident in the water whilst wearing buoyancy aids. Buoyancy aids and helmets will be provided and must be worn all the times while afloat.
AGE REQUIREMENTS
Some courses have age requirements. The age is calculated against the start date of the course.
Course participants under 18 must be enroled by their parents/guardians.
LANGUAGE
All courses are conducted in English unless otherwise specified.
WEATHER PROCEDURES – SAILING / POWERBOAT COURSES
· Morning sessions will be cancelled if Red/Black Rainstorm Warning signal, Typhoon signal #3 or higher signals are in effect at 0700hrs or after. For FULL DAY courses, if the aforementioned signals are cancelled before 1110hrs, the afternoon sessions will start at 1330hrs.
· Afternoon sessions will be cancelled if Red/Black Rainstorm Warning signal, Typhoon signal #3 or higher signals are in effect at 1110hrs or after.
· If Red/Black Rainstorm Warning signal, Typhoon signal #3 or higher signals are raised after a session has begun, all on-water activities will be suspended and the class will continue ashore until the scheduled finish time (or 1230hrs for full day courses if signal is raised in the morning).
· Amber Rainstorm Warning, Typhoon signal #1, Thunderstorm Warning, Strong Monsoon: Sessions will go ahead. The Sail Training staff will monitor the weather conditions in the local area and suspend on-water activities if necessary. Sessions will continue ashore until the scheduled course end time.
WEATHER PROCEDURES – SHOREBASED COURSES AT KELLETT ISLAND
Kellett Island Shorebased Courses will go ahead if the Amber Rain Signal or #3 Typhoon signal is hoisted but will be cancelled if Black Rain Signal or #8 or higher Typhoon signal is hoisted at 0700hrs for full day course and hoisted at 1600 hrs for an evening course.
CANCELLATION – BY APPLICANTS
· 10% course fee is non-refundable once a booking is made.
· Cancellation must be made in writing or via email at least THREE WEEKS (21 days) prior to the course start date. 100% course fee will be forfeited after this deadline. Students who do not turn up will be charged the full course fee.
CANCELLATION - BY RHKYC
· In the event of cancellation due to insufficient enrolments, applicants will be notified 7 days before the course start date.
INDEMNITY AND PROMOTIONAL STATEMENTS
By agreeing to these terms and conditions, as the participant or the legal parents/guardian of the participants you are agreeing to the below statements:
"I declare that the participants are confident in the water whilst wearing a buoyancy aid and do not suffer from any illness that renders them unfit for this activity. I agree that if I/the participants suffer damage, death or personal injury as a result of participating in the RHKYC Sailing Programme I shall not hold the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club or the Course Instructors liable for such damage, death or personal injury and I make this agreement in full knowledge of the risks inherent in these activities. I confirm that should there be a behavioural incident during the course I will support the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s decisions."
"I understand that participants in RHKYC Sail Training Activities grant to RHKYC, at no cost, the absolute right and permission in perpetuity to use their image and likeness in any media, including video footage, for the sole purposes of advertising, promoting, reporting and disseminating information regarding RHKYC activities."
